Engineering is an evergreen field, pursued by lakhs of students every year. With such a vast number of students graduating every year with an engineering degree, students are bound to be worried about their placements as they witness cut-throat competition in the industry. A professional degree in engineering becomes meaningful and significant if the placements statistics are impressive. With employability being the formidable reality for degree holders, it is imperative that both universities and students understand what recruiters look for.
The industry experts have observed that the dynamics of hiring have changed substantially. Earlier, corporates would look for meritorious students. But now, they look for core tech skills, additional certifications or programs, global exposure and other essential soft skills.
By applying the principles of mathematics and science, engineers find solutions to the world’s biggest technical issues. UPES School of Engineering is at the forefront of delivering education that makes sure students are job-ready as soon as they graduate.
Backed by sound knowledge, integrity, cutting-edge research and innovation, students are ready to make a mark. Students are guided by sector-centric knowledge, along with theories pertinent to the future of core industries. Students get access to global alliances, industry and alumni network, which prepares them for the world at large.
UPES School of Engineering provides its students with additional specializations in latest technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Data Analytics, Blockchain and Robotics and Self-Driven Vehicle. It is vital for today’s engineer to get hands-on knowledge as the use of these technologies has become ubiquitous.
UPES School of Engineering students, irrespective of their specializations, will be able to pursue an add-on degree in any of these topics along with their B. Tech degree. This add-on specialisation will enable students to become diverse and broaden their skill set, enabling them to adapt and contribute in an era dominated by constant disruption, which further helps them improve their job prospects.
Each specialization will have five courses of three credits each and a project spanned between 3rd and 7th semester. Faculty will lead all the courses.
UPES School of Engineering is also initiating a Diploma in Business Management program for its undergraduate students. Interested students will pursue this course along with their B. Tech program, which will help them provide basic and fundamental management skills. This diploma would equip the students with a global vision, enhance their problem-solving and decision-making skills, thus making them holistic engineers. An understanding of the management principles and practices would be useful for students in terms of their employability and further education.
The diploma program is optional and will carry 30 credit points. B.Tech students will be awarded a separate diploma on completing the Business Management Course.
