UPES Faculty Team up with Russian Bioenergy Experts to Augment Green Diesel Production
UPES and Russian experts are shaping the landscape of biodiesel production through cutting-edge technology and collaborative innovation
Embarking on a transformative journey, researchers from UPES have joined forces with Russian bioenergy experts to revolutionise biodiesel production. Their collaborative efforts harness the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance biofuel quality. This is not merely a scientific breakthrough; it’s a visionary step towards a greener, more sustainable future.
Abhirup Khanna, a visionary from UPES School of Computer Science, has teamed up with the dynamic duo of Dr. Sapna Jain and Dr. Bhawna Lamba from UPES School of Advanced Engineering. Together, they’ve developed an ingenious approach that utilizes AI and ML algorithms to predict biodiesel properties. This isn’t just about innovation; it’s about fundamentally improving the yield. They are focussing on Jatropha (Ratanjot) as the primary inedible oilseed for biodiesel.
UPES and other global institutions, such as Don State Technical University and the Federal Scientific Agroengineering Center VIM in Russia, have received notable recognition for this groundbreaking interdisciplinary research in creating sustainable energy solutions. The crux of the research lies in enhancing biodiesel quality, achieving precision in predicting fuel quantity, and significantly reducing labour costs. UPES, known for its unwavering commitment to driving innovation and sustainability, is at the forefront of this transformative journey.
UPES is not just changing the game locally; it’s making waves on the global stage. The recent formation of the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) during the G-20 summit in New Delhi aligns perfectly with the university’s mission. Led by India, the GBA seeks to unite nations in co-developing sustainable alternatives and promoting the use of biofuels. The collaborative efforts between UPES and Russian experts serve as a shining example of the positive impact that can be achieved when visionary minds come together.
As we navigate the challenges of the present, the researchers and global collaborators give us hope for a more sustainable future. This isn’t just about biodiesel; it’s about pioneering a path towards cleaner, greener energy solutions. The journey is ongoing, but with each breakthrough, we come one step closer to a world where innovation and sustainability coexist harmoniously.
