UPES student develops online learning platform CavenX
Abheesht Singh, a student of B.Tech Computer Science (IT Infrastructure), has developed CavenX, a virtual schooling platform that delivers a simpler, more powerful teaching and learning experience than the traditional learning management system
As the nation moved into lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, educational institutions started switching to e-learning. Online learning became a way of life for all students, including Abheesht Singh and his brother.
One day Abheesht happened to glance at the e-learning platform his brother was using. He found that the technology was outdated and was not enough to meet the needs of a new age learner. Thus, germinated the idea of CavenX, a new online learning platform that would deliver a full-fledged virtual schooling environment.
So how is CavenX different from the current learning management systems being used?
Says Abheesht, “The current technologies being used are just momentary tools which cannot be used on a long-term basis as they do not track students’ records like their progress, achievements, etc. They are not specifically designed for educational purposes. Assuming Covid-19 pandemic isn’t going to end until the vaccine arrives, educational institutions will have to adapt to virtual schooling. CavenX will provide a fully-functional virtual schooling environment built specifically for students and teachers.”
Performance wise, CavenX is efficient with simple tools and workflows that help learners and instructors stay organised, easily take action, and engage with the content and with each other. Users can learn and teach anytime, anywhere, with a fully-responsive design for all devices and delightful mobile apps to support critical workflows such as grading and collaboration.
Explains Abheesht, “CavenX is aimed at fostering more personalized interactions and driving student success. It is a simple way to organise live classrooms and move learning and education forward. It has simple and intuitive host controls for presenters and interactive capabilities for attendees from desktops, laptops, mobile devices; equipped with system audio sharing, muting capabilities, and much more. CavenX is completely GDPR compliant, and users have the Right to Erasure and Right to Data Portability. Institutions need to adapt to meet learner and instructor needs while minimizing disruption and ensuring continuity.”
The challenges ahead for CavenX would be garnering the right kind of publicity. Abheesht started with no budget or seed money and since the concept is new and untested it does not have many takers. But Abheesht is hopeful that his innovation will find acceptance. “Teaching from home requires a different approach. With CavenX, educators can create classes, distribute assignments, grade and send feedback, and monitor everything in one place. We help students and teachers make teaching more productive, collaborative, and meaningful. With a modern, intuitive, fully-responsive interface, CavenX delivers a simpler, more powerful teaching and learning experience that goes beyond the traditional learning management system,” he signs off.
Well done Abheesht!!
