Here’s a rundown of the numerous global opportunities and avenues for UPES students that make them global-ready professionals.

Student exchange programs: Our extensive academic collaborations and partnerships with top universities worldwide offer students the unparalleled advantage of learning from the best right at their campus! We leverage the expertise of the universities and exchange students for a mutually beneficial learning experience. All the courses are in English, supported by Coursera subscription for over 3900 courses. Specialized faculty, exposure to real-world issues through simulations and projects, and a culture for innovation give our students the edge they need to lead in the corporate world.

Internships and Projects: Students also get to intern for a semester (extended to a year under exceptional circumstances) at our partner universities, further enabling them to understand the subject at a global level and from a culturally different perspective. Students have interned on several exciting and path-breaking topics such as Classification of bone X-Ray images using CNN, Analysis of brain signals, and Smart home automation using ESP8266. A rigorous application process is followed to select students for the internships.

Global Immersion Program: Another window for students to gain global exposure is through our Global Immersion Program. This helps students get a new perspective on any subject from a different business culture and opens their minds to a global work dynamic, making them adept at being a truly global professional. Global exposure also emphasizes leadership development, digital transformation, and creative and analytical thinking. The two major streams that students can select from are Global Leadership and Design & Innovation.

UPES also has established academic collaborations with top universities across the world. Here are a few:

Berkeley Global: UPES collaborated with Berkeley Global, the continuing education school of UC Berkeley that brings Berkeley-quality education worldwide. The collaboration offers our students the opportunities to study abroad and gain extensive global exposure pertinent to tackle the new normal demands.

University of Law, United Kingdom: UPES is the first Indian University to partner with UK-based The University of Law for legal studies. One of the topmost universities globally for legal studies, the partnership grants opportunities for research collaboration, collaborative seminars, course development through online modules, and faculty and student exchange programs. Academicians from ULaw also visit the campus to conduct workshops, masterclasses, and sessions.

ECE Paris: Founded in 1919, one of the top 3 Engineering institutions in France for international recognition, ECE and UPES have undertaken more than 30 student exchange activities. UPES and ECE work together to provide students with practical experience with different projects and research opportunities in Computer Science & Engineering.

Polytech Nantes: Part of the coveted University of Nantes and a Polytech group member – a network of 15 graduate engineering schools within France’s leading science universities – Polytech Nantes and UPES foster a global application learning pedagogy for the School of Engineering students. More than 35 exchange students have benefitted from the collaboration.

Memorial University, Newfoundland: Benefitting from semester exchange programs and internships in areas like Electrical and electronics components, Computer Science, and Physics from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, UPES students have truly experienced global exposure on the campus of this prestigious university. More than 35 exchange activities have been completed ever since the collaboration. During the pandemic, the universities proposed virtual projects to facilitate practical knowledge and foster a more industry-ready learning framework.

Virginia Commonwealth University, USA: Ranked in the top 100 research universities by the National Science Foundation, Virginia Commonwealth University offers UPES students the advantage of century-old research expertise. UPES students get the opportunity to be a part of the research semester exchange with VCU for engineering and computer science programs. Since 2017 student and faculty exchanges are open with the help of MoU between the universities.

The new normal – the post-COVID world as it termed – will see more unique challenges and opportunities in the global market. With work from home becoming a norm, being physically present at a foreign location may diminish, but the need to be culturally sound will always remain high.
