My journey from UPES campus to placement at TCS

I was given proper guidance before I sat through the multiple rounds of interviews conducted by design studios, which came to the campus for recruitment

I hail from the holy city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. I am a student of M.Design at the UPES School of Design. The University and the Design school are well-known across the country. As far as academics are concerned, the resources made available to us are state-of-the-art. The faculty helps students in learning new skills, preparing us to make a smooth transition from the classroom to the corporate world.

UPES, located at Bidholi, Dehradun, has a wonderful infrastructure, equipped with every facility a student would like to have in his or her college – be it a food court, gym, multi-activity centre, sports ground or clubs dedicated to photography and films. UPES is, in fact, one of the most beautiful campuses in the country.

The UPES School of Design is well-known for its culture and the innovative teaching styles of the faculty. We also have several fun activities every month like ‘Design Day’, when we showcase our work to our peers, faculty and the entire university.

At the School of Design, we have MAC Labs, Cintiq Labs, Plastic studio, Clay Labs and Wood studio, which helps students to display and exhibit their passion towards design and innovation.

Talking about placements, UPES has always stayed ahead of other colleges, especially in the field of design. The university has a consistent record of 100% placement for deserving candidates. Numerous companies visit the campus, and almost every eligible student gets placed. The Placement Department holds several training sessions to make sure every eligible student becomes industry-ready.

I was also given proper guidance before sitting through the multiple rounds of interviews conducted by design studios, which came to the campus for recruitment. I was placed at TCS (the second company for which I appeared for placement) as a UX Designer. Before TCS, I sat for Global Logic, but couldn’t get through. However, I took it as a learning experience and applied those lessons while preparing for the next company. I noted every question I was asked in the first interview and reworked on them with the support of my faculty and placement cell guides. I sat again for TCS and got through.

Several other companies such as Infosys, LTI InfoTech, Bosch, Titan, Mozaic Design and UX Reactor visited the campus for recruitment.

My journey at UPES was undoubtedly the most exciting and memorable time of my life. I will be forever thankful to UPES for this amazing experience.
